Are Electronic Cigarettes Safe?

March 17th, 2010

There has been a lot of warnings and press releases produced by the FDA stating that electronic cigarettes are harmful because they use propylene glycol in the cartridges to produce the vapor which is also used in antifreeze and therefore electronic cigarettes must be harmful.

Although propylene glycol is one of the primary agents in some antifreeze products, this brand or type of antifreeze is produced with propylene glycol to be labeled as a “non-toxic” antifreeze, so that they may be used in food-processing systems, water pipes for homes and many other applications where typical antifreeze with ethylene glycol can’t be used.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has determined propylene glycol to be “generally recognized as safe” for use in food, cosmetics, and medicines. It is used in food coloring, and flavoring, as an additive to keep food, medicines and cosmetics moist, and in machines that simulate smoke.

What is the Best Electronic Cigarette Starter Kit to Buy?

March 2nd, 2010

Currently on the market there are many options when choosing an Electronic Cigarette.

This data comes from personal experience, surveys from others, and current reviews.

There are few basic Electronic Cigarettes types.

1. The Pen Style, is one of the first types electronic cigarettes on the Market. I have found that it works well, but is very heavy and large. It also doesn’t look like a cigarette and more like a Pen, hence “Pen Style”. I found this type not to perform any better than the other types as well.

2. Mini Electronic Cigarette, is your typical model sold on the market today. It is similar in size to tranditional cigarettes and I found that this type depending on which brand will perform the best in regards to amount of vapor production and battery life.

3. Super Mini Electronic Cigarette, just like the Mini Electronic Cigarette, but smaller. This type does work well and is cool because it so small, but I have found that the battery and cartridges don’t last very long. In comparison to the Mini Electronic Cigarettes, the battery life and cartridges last about half the time.

If you are like me who used to smoke 20 cigarettes a day and are looking for a healthier alternative, I would recommend the a Mini Electronic Cigarette type. Compared to the rest you will get the most satisfaction out of this type, the Pen Style might be large and heavy in the mouth and the Super Mini Electronic Cigarette might make you frustrated on how many times you have to charge the battery or change out the cartridge.

I have used many brands of Electronic Cigarettes my reccomendation for first time Electronic Cigarette users and old timers is a brand Lucky Slicks http://www.luckyslicks.com . I have their Slick Retro Model and has been the most reliable one that I have come across, plus their price is low and the flavors are good.

Benefits of Using Electronic Cigarettes

March 2nd, 2010

I have been using Electronic Cigarettes or vaping for sometime now and have found many benefits. I have saved a lot money, on average I was spending around $5-$6 dollars a day and now with the replacement cartridges for my electronic cigarette I only spend $1.50 a day. I no longer have to hear my wife complain to me about how I smell or worry about cleaning up all my cigarette butts. The greatest benefit that I have found is that I feel healthier and don’t wake up in the morning hacking a lung out of my mouth. I know that there is a lot of news on whether Electronic Cigarettes are healthier or not, but from my experience I have found them to much healthier.

Safety of electronic cigarettes questioned

March 2nd, 2010

The source of this article was from: http://mybroadband.co.za/blogs/2010/01/14/safety-of-electronic-cigarettes-questioned/

After you read this see my opinions below!

California’s attorney general is seeking to halt the sale of one company’s Electronic Cigarettes in the state, saying they contain dangerous chemicals and are being marketed to children.

State Attorney General Jerry Brown filed suit Wednesday in Alameda County Superior Court against Florida-based Smoking Everywhere Inc., a leading manufacturer of E-Cigarettes.

Brown says the company has no evidence to back up claims their product is safe.

Smoking Everywhere’s devices look like regular cigarettes but are battery-operated and contain cartridges of nicotine. A heater converts the chemical into a vapor.

The company did not immediately return a call seeking comment.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration found last year that e-cigarettes contain carcinogens.

End of Article, My turn.

To me this is just typical hypocritical political BS! What are these politicians trying to accomplish? Obviously not trying to help people, they are either just that ignorant or have hidden agendas that side with big tobacco. There are so many groups and politicians that promote not to smoke tobacco, but since the E-Cigarette industry has been growing they have directed their effects against it. I have even see articles with some of these guys stating that E-Cigarettes are worse than traditional cigarettes. Everyone knows how many people die each year from smoking and if they were really interested in helping smokers find a healthier alternative and/or quit smoking, they would support the E-Cigarette industry. If they think that there might be some harmful chemicals in the E-Cig (which just there assumption and lies) than they should put there efforts into fine tuning the e-cig. However their only agenda is to overlook the benefits from it and try to demolish the industry and continue killing people with real cigarettes.

On a slightly different note, from my experience and knowledge of Smoking Everywhere they don’t seem to be the greatest example of an E-Cig company and seem to be very money oriented, but who cares if they are helping people find a healthier alternative and/or quit smoking. Big tobacco is only in it for the money, they knowingly kill people and make a profit from it.

FDA vs E-Cigarettes

March 2nd, 2010

It is a new day we are winning the battle with FDA.

For those who don’t know about the situation with the FDA and Electronic Cigarettes here is a very brief overview.

Early last year when E-Cigs started becoming very popular, the FDA step in and stated that they needed to be approved by the FDA before selling in the USA. They also started confiscating shipments to suppliers and put out a press release warning consumers by stating that they were harmful and worse that real cigarettes. They also confiscated over 50 shipments from two US suppliers NJoy and Smoking Everywhere and ran tests on the products. Then later came out with another press release with their lab report stating that E-Cigarettes were harmful. It was later found that their tests were incomplete and the products were tested incorrectly. Due to their press releases and lab results, many have found and stated in other press releases that the were just being lobbied by Big Tobacco. In August 2007 Smoking Everywhere sued the FDA for confiscating their shipments and there is a lot of data about what was going on the suit which we will not get into here, but here is the latest article.

According to this article http://online.wsj.com/article/BT-CO-20100114-712528.html?mod=WSJ_latestheadlines ,U.S. District Judge Richard J. Leon said the FDA doesn’t have authority to regulate electronic cigarettes.

This is great news for all E-Cigarette Smokers, Suppliers and Manufacturers. Thanks to NJoy, Smoking Everywhere and the Electronic Cigarette Association (ECA) for all your hard work in pursuing to Electronic Cigarettes industry stay alive and so we all can experience a healthier life.
